Arsenal learn major injury update for Liverpool before Premier League title clash

Liverpool have been handed a major injury blow which could impact the Premier League title race and their upcoming clash against Arsenal. Arne Slot's side currently sit top of the table with six wins out of a possible seven while the Gunners are one point behind in third.

Reigning champions Manchester City are also on 16 points but are above Mikel Arteta's side on goals scored. Both of those teams have faced challenging fixtures early in the season with it fair to say the Reds were handed a favourable opening run of games.

However, that looks set to change with Liverpool's next two months filled by some very challenging games.

In comparison to Arsenal and Man City, with Martin Odegaard, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne all absent because of injury, Slot has been handed minimal fitness blows. With that being said, like their fixtures, that looks set to change with the severity of Alisson's latest hamstring issue being made clear.

According to football.london's sister title, after scans revealed the goalkeeper suffered a hamstring tear in the win against Crystal Palace this past weekend. With the clash at Emirates Stadium set for Sunday, October 27, the Brazilian will definitely miss that game.

Martin Odegaard is another key player dealing with an injury and the expectation is that he will also miss the Liverpool game. An exact return date has not been provided by Arteta, however he is yet to resume outdoor training.

and by his own words, the injury is not as bad as first feared. Despite that, a recent update from Norway boss Stale Solbakken was far from promising.

"There is great progress in relation to pain and injury, but he is a long way from playing matches," to Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen. "I don’t think anyone knows [when he will play again], and I don’t think he knows it himself either."
