star has insisted he will not have any "problems" with when the British driver joins the team next season.

Hamilton shocked the Formula One by announcing he would leave Mercedes after 11 years, having etched his name into history by winning a record-equalling seven world championships.

By joining Ferrari, Hamilton will team up with Leclerc - who is a star in his own right and there have been some fears that the two might not gel together or clash as two of the sport's high profile drivers who are both ambitious.

But Leclerc has quelled those fears, saying he was excited about working with the 39-year-old - as he admitted he will have to "adapt" to the team's approach but believes their "healthy" competition" will bring out the best in each other.

"The way of working will be different to Mercedes and this will take a little bit of time to adapt, but we are speaking about Lewis Hamilton - I am pretty sure he does not need advice on that. I am super excited to be working alongside him," he told

"To be, yes, learning from him but, at the same time, it is such an exciting challenge for me to be in the same car as such a successful driver and to be able to show what I am capable of.

"Both of us will want to beat each other, that is the way it is in F1, but I am sure it will be a healthy competition. We have a great relationship and I always have a good relationship with my team-mates.

"It is about a separation between what happens on track and what happens off the track, I will not have any problems with Lewis, I am sure."

Leclerc is gearing up for the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, where he will start in fourth after finishing behind team-mate Carlos Sainz, and Lando Norris in qualifying.

It comes after former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto said he would not have brought Hamilton to the team if he were still in charge.

When asked if it was a decision he would have taken, he said: "No. But he did very well to go to Ferrari, I agree with his decision."

He added: "Because Ferrari had focused on other drivers. And if the talent is Leclerc, I think he is the one who should be accompanied to the objective in some way."
