Chelsea set for £26m transfer windfall to help Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons double deal

Chelsea and Villarreal have reached a €30million (close to £26million) agreement for the sale of Renato Veiga, football.london understands.

The 22-year-old defender is set to move to Estadi de la Ceramica on a permanent basis after the two clubs reached an agreement on Wednesday afternoon. Veiga, who joined the Blues from FC Basel in the summer of 2024, is not part of the plans at Stamford Bridge with the west Londoners turning down multiple loan offers for the defender this summer with an eye on a permanent departure instead.

Chelsea have now got that, with Veiga set to sign a long-term contract with the Spanish club. The Portugal international featured 18 times for the Blues' first team in his one and only season with the club before he was sent out on loan to Juventus in the January transfer window.

The money for Veiga - understood to be around £26million - will help Chelsea as they look to add a couple of new faces to the squad before the September 1 deadline. The Blues are advancing in their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, as reported by football.london earlier in the week, with the 21-year-old winger having his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, talks are continuing this week with RB Leipzig for a deal involving Xavi Simons. The 22-year-old attacker already has a broad agreement on personal terms with the Blues and is patiently waiting for the two clubs to find common ground. Chelsea are hoping to offload players before advancing in negotiations for the signing of the Netherlands international.

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are both interested in signing Christopher Nkunku, whose future looks certain to be away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea, again, want a permanent deal for the Frenchman, who has made it clear he wants to move on from SW6 this summer.

Nicolas Jackson could follow suit, although the Blues will not sell him on the cheap. The 24-year-old striker has told the club he wishes to explore his options with numerous teams expressing an interest in his services. Aston Villa are keen, football.london understands, but Unai Emery's side need to sell before they can buy.
