Coleen Rooney's trip to see Wayne 'leaves her shocked' as she 'takes drastic action'

Send Push

Coleen Rooney reportedly decided to take action after a recent visit with husband Wayne gave her a 'shock' and left her 'worried' he wasn't taking care of himself.

The Wagatha Christie star has been in a long-distance marriage since Wayne started working as Plymouth Argyle head coach.

The former Everton and Manchester United player is based 260 miles away from the family home in Cheshire, where Coleen has stayed to raise their four sons Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass.

But with Wayne now spending a lot of his time alone, Coleen has put him on the ultimate health kick after getting a 'shock' when she saw him recently.

Speaking to Heat magazine, a source said: "Coleen got a bit of a shock when she saw Wayne recently. She’s worried he’s not taking enough care of himself now that he’s living on his own.

"It was always going to be a big adjustment for him when he gave up playing football professionally. He was at the peak of his fitness during that time – Coleen made sure he ate healthily and he was always running about and playing footie with the boys.

"Now, she feels he’s not putting himself first, and worries that he’s struggling to cope without her looking after him."

The source claimed that Coleen's solution was to put Wayne on a diet and give him an exercise regime to make sure he's staying healthy in her absence.

The lifestyle change is all taking place in the run-up to his 39th birthday, when the family will take a trip together to celebrate.

The source said: "She’s decided to put him on a bit of a health and fitness kick ahead of his 39th birthday next month, as she wants him to look and feel his best when they go away for a few days to celebrate."

Coleen decided against leaving their family home in Cheshire with Wayne. And in an interview with the Mail on Sunday last month, Wayne revealed that Coleen would not be joining him in the South West.

Instead, the 38-year old is staying at their £20m Cheshire mansion alongside her sons, with a source telling Closer magazine that Coleen made the decision to remain in the North West in a bid to boost their marriage.

The Mirror have contacted representatives of the couple for comment.
