This was the case for one teacher, who chose to list a few names from students that were quickly dubbed to be “cringe”. The teacher simply penned: “Some names of my students: Emberly, Noaha (pronounced Noah), Braylen/Braylon, Whitlynn, Buck (it’s a nickname but still), Knox, Jaxxon and Layyla (siblings), Auggie (full name is Agustin).”

Group members were quick to share their thoughts in the comments section. One person said: “Why is Noaha pronounced Noah hahaha."

Another was a fan of one of the names listed and said: “Augustin is fine and Auggie is cute as a nickname.”

This led someone to point out: “Yes, but this is ‘Agustine’, so it should be Aggie," while another highlighted: “Agustin is the Hispanic way of spelling Augustine based on how their language is pronounced."

Another person was also a fan of a few of the featured names, but less than impressed with some of the others: “Agustin/Auggie and Knox are legit names. Buck being a nickname doesn't particularly count but Noaha, Jaxxon, and Layyla with those unneeded extra letters are just tragic.”

Equally perturbed by the unnecessary extra letters, one person simply commented: “The xx yy thing there…” while another said: “Layla is a lovely name. W H Y add an extra Y?”

Another person said: “I like Auggie. The rest of the names are sh**e.” But someone else was disappointed by the teacher’s decision to share the names: “I always cringe when teachers post these. School should be a safe place, these parents are trusting you with something so precious, and you’re on the internet making fun of them."

To which, someone replied: “Why are you here??” While another asked if the person was “lost” or confused by the point of the group’s existence.
