Former Arsenal star makes Jadon Sancho Chelsea prediction as glaring Man Utd point made

Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes Jadon Sancho will have an instant impact at Chelsea.

The 24-year-old moved to the Blues at the end of the summer transfer window, completing a very late season-long loan move to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United. As part of the move the former Borussia Dortmund man will move to west London in a permanent deal for around £25million next summer.

A lot is expected of the winger, who impressed on his Chelsea debut last weekend. Sancho was brought on at half-time by Enzo Maresca and set up the winner against Bournemouth late in the second half, finding Christopher Nkunku in the box who calmly did the rest.

It's fair to say it just hasn't quite worked out for Sancho in the Premier League yet after falling out with Erik ten Hag at Man Utd. The Englishman has a fresh chance in west London, however, and former Gunners star Sagna believes that's exactly what he needs.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Sagna said: "I trained with Jadon Sancho when he was 16, at Manchester City, and rated him as one of the best talents I’ve seen. He was shining at Borussia Dortmund – the two spells he’s had there, he was probably their best player.

“I can’t understand why it went wrong at Manchester United – it's an English team and a country he knew, spoke the language. I know he is very respectful; I don’t know what happened at United.

"For Chelsea to sign him, I think it’s great and he will be a constant threat. He’s from London as well – he’s back home with his family and his friends, so he has all the ingredients to have a great impact at such a massive club like Chelsea. I’m not surprised to see the impact he is having, because he already had that at 16 at Manchester City.”

Next up for Chelsea is an away trip to West Ham United on Saturday before a Carabao Cup third round tie against League Two Barrow. After impressing on his debut, Sancho will be itching to return to the field once more, but this time from the start.
