GTA 6 release still on track says Take-Two – and a new trailer might not be far off either

Rockstar Games' parent company has confirmed that the GTA 6 release date hasn't moved in spite of 'leaks' – but players are already digging around looking for confirmation that the second trailer for the game will come soon.

GTA 6 is set to have the biggest video game launch in the medium’s history, and as such, the tiniest hints of leaks can have catastrophic effects on the game’s fans. The GTA 6 release date has been brought into question an awful lot since the trailer launched, with the debunking of a delayed release date leading to a huge sigh of relief for players. It’s easy to presume that Rockstar Games simply couldn’t complete its work on such a massive project in good time, but that’s forgetting that it’s been a decade since its last GTA title launched, and that Rockstar likely wouldn’t be so negligent as to not apply the majority of its workforce to one of the most anticipated games ever. Either way, fans are nervous.

We’re very lucky, then, that Rockstar has been keeping its head down working hard, not revealing an awful lot about the game since its first trailer launched (or leaked). But now, it's willing to reveal that it's still on track for the GTA 6 release date that players didn’t expect the team to hit.

In a recent Take-Two earnings call, the Rockstar parent company revealed that GTA 5 “has sold-in over 195 million units worldwide and includes access to Grand Theft Auto Online. Rockstar Games continues to invest in the franchise and plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in the Fall of calendar 2025. The label released its first trailer for the title in December 2023 and will share more details over time.”

It’s great news for players who were looking for clues that the game would be shot from its expected release date, as – though the release date could move – it looks like Rockstar isn’t considering it just yet. But there are still teases to work through, and knowing the most dedicated GTA players, they’re not about to let go of theorising just yet, especially in the face of fresh teases.

GTA 6 is safe, and its trailer is next

Now that players know they don’t have to panic about the GA 6 release date being delayed, their attention can turn to the next trailer for the game, which hasn’t yet materialised since the first one launched late last year.

Twitter user @GTAVI_Countdown has revealed one wild theory that points to a GA 6 trailer dropping early next month, with the account claiming that the appearance of a motorbike with a number plate displaying “Oct” and “4” means that a trailer can be expected to arrive on Friday, October 4 (providing it doesn’t leak again).

It might seem like a bizarre claim to make, but stranger claims have been confirmed, with fans decoding a message on a T-shirt added to GTA Online that hinted at the release date and time of the first GTA 6 trailer. Fans getting forensic has worked in their favour in the past, and it could do it again with this minor connection.

Either way, fans are still desperate for more GTA 6 release date information, and they won’t rest until they’re consistently promised that the game is still coming out in time for its projected release window, or they have a time to look to in anticipation of its second trailer. Don’t expect GTA 6 fans to be happy until it’s in their hands and meets their exact expectations.
