'I smoked vapes for seven years – but recent visit to GP left me gobsmacked'

Vaping's potential harm has been thrust into the spotlight after a brave woman shared her story.

Emma Kay, known on as @emmakay60, shared a startling revelation about her following years of e-cigarette use. In a video which has since gone , Emma disclosed a recent GP visit and subsequent chest X-ray unveiled "cuffs" or holes and severe lung damage due to her habit.

The clip, which comes with a warning for offensive language, features text from Emma stating: "Strictly making this for awareness. Vaped for nearly seven years, and didn't give a s**t because I wasn't seeing damage.

"Went to the doctor today, and got a chest X-ray, which showed 'cuffs' or holes and severe damage to my lungs due to vaping. This is your sign to stop. I ignored this until it got this bad."

With over 4 million views, the video sparked widespread disbelief and prompted others to share their struggles with quitting vaping.

One individual commented: "For anyone struggling, I vaped for almost 10 years and it felt impossible. Then I read/listened to 'The Easy Way' by Alan Carr on Audible, specifically the vaping one. Hope it can help someone else."

Another person shared their success, saying: "Two weeks vape free and I'm so thankful I'm on my journey to healthier lungs." A third added: "I just decided to quit today, and then I see this video. It's a sign and I'm sticking with it this time, I swear."

While the acknowledges that vaping nicotine is much less harmful than smoking, they still maintain it's not entirely risk-free. Specifically catered for adult smokers, it's seen as one of the most effective quitting aids available.

Vapers who switch from smoking can expect a substantial decrease in the intake of carcinogens and other toxic substances that are common in cigarettes - potentially avoiding cancer, lung ailments and heart diseases.

However, for those who never smoked and, particularly individuals under 18, picking up vaping is definitely not advised.
