A savvy shopper has hit the pastry jackpot - and everyone is 'jealous'.

Too Good To Go has spiralled into the mainstream in recent years, allowing bargain hunters to snap up food from their favourite places for a fraction of the price. The app offers customers the chance to purchase 'mystery bags' for a small fee (usually around £3) in exchange for food that would otherwise be binned to try and reduce waste around the world.

The only caveat is that you don't know what you'll end up with. But for one man, the gamble was certainly worth the risk.

Posting on Facebook, Alister James McRoberts showed off the contests of his two Too Good To Go Bags that he bought from his local Starbucks in Elgin, Scotland, for just £5.90. It featured seven bags filled with plain croissants, almond croissants, chocolate twists, a cinnamon roll and a Halloween cake pop.

But the savvy shopper also received six trays of chocolate and caramel shortbread. He joked the 35 slices would come in handy as he is visiting his family tomorrow - adding: "Get the kettle on."

The sweet treats cost around £3.15 depending on your location - meaning Alister received more than £115 in shortbread alone. The pastries are also priced around £3 each, meaning the man really did strike gold.

Another agreed, commenting: "Looks yummy." A third added: "I wish my Starbucks did this," while a fourth penned: "Blimey! I like the random cake pop."
