Move over, 2025 is all about vswhen it comes to reunion tours - and ticket chaos.
Tickets for Busted vs McFly go on general sale on Friday but O2 customers and other lucky fans with presale codes have been able to grab tickets from 9am this morning. The troupe will ignite their 14-date UK tour in Birmingham on September 16, which marks ten years since the debut McBusted tour
But fans hoping to bag tickets ahead of the general sale are having some serious issues. Speaking to the , one hopeful fan told how they've been put on a waiting list instead of a queue - reminiscent of the Oasis Ticketmaster chaos last month. Other fans are unable to purchase tickets when they eventually get through.
Writing on (X) this morning, one begged Ticketmaster for help as they panicked: "Busted V McFly presale has been on for 13 mins ans I'm still just getting spinning circles?? @TicketmasterIre @TMIrelandHelp." Another fumed: "The busted vs mcfly presale is more stressful than eras tour tickets atm."
"Spent the last 10 mins trying to buy @Busted vs McFly's tickets and never once had a queue," a third disappointed fan penned. "I was straight to buying option but kept getting error u307 and watched at my mates got their tickets, wasn't until I closed the app I came back and standing was sold out @TicketmasterUK."
"I literally had tickets to Busted Vs Mcfly in my basket and then nothing," another gutted fan said of their Ticketmaster woes, with one tweeting the Ticketmaster Twitter account: "'Something went wrong there has been a problem with the connection' is all I'm getting for the three+ presale and artist presale for Busted Vs McFly this morning. What's going on??? Connection is fine for everything else!!"
, saying: "The whole tour is to find out who's a better band. Fans can decide. They can come and support their band and they might change their mind. It's going to be a fight to the death." Meanwhile, Matt Willis threw his own shade, joking: "It has been a long time coming, this tour. Fans have wanted this. There's a massive crossover in the fanbases but secretly I think everyone likes Busted more."
McFly's , Danny Jones, Harry Judd, and Dougie Poynter forged an alliance with Busted's Matt and James to form supergroup McBusted, claiming a spot in the Top Ten with their album. But was , though he now seems game to throw down some banter of his own.
As McFly's drummer Harry quipped about Busted "milking" their 20th anniversary, needing McFly to "save them" once again, Charlie clapped back: "We said, 'We don't want to go out again, but we will if we have to take you on. You can support us one more time, yes. Just like you did in 2004'."
The amusing exchange happened at London's O2 Arena on 9th October, where Busted made a surprise appearance during McFly's performance, The Sun reports. Making the tour official the following morning, both groups shared clips of last night's show-stopping moment on social media, as Busted threw down the gauntlet for McFly in "the ultimate face-off."
"Every saga has an ending. BUSTED VS McFLY Tour 2025. The ultimate battle of the bands. Tickets on sale 9am Friday 18th October, sign up now for presale access. Are you in?" is how Busted and McFly tempted fans with their announcement. The reaction online was electric, with one fan saying: "My ears are still ringing from the noise in the stadium when they announced this!" Meanwhile, another gig-goer from the O2's live reveal enthused: "OMG what a night, Euphoria is the only way I can describe it. Thank you guys for one to remember."
It's been over two decades since both bands were formed, and they remain two of the most adored and successful British bands, influencing numerous other artists over the past several decades. Busted first burst onto the scene with the unstoppable pop-punk energy of their debut single 'What I Go To School For'. This sparked a string of hits for the trio, including chart-topping smashes like 'Crashed The Wedding', 'Who's David',' Thunderbirds Are Go', 'You Said No' and Top 3 singles such as 'Year 3000', 'Air Hostess' and 'Sleeping With The Light On'.
Just last year, Busted's 'Greatest Hits 2.0' stormed into the charts at #1 - remarkably securing their first #1 album a whopping twenty-one years after their debut with 'What I Go To School For'. Three out of their four studio albums have peaked at #2, with sales of 4.5 million leading to eight Platinum certifications, a total of 25 weeks in the Top 10, and two 5x Platinum selling albums. They've bagged two BRIT Awards - Best Pop Act and Best British Breakthrough - and multiple sold-out arena tours have seen them sell more than 2 million tickets, including 26 sold-out UK arenas last year.
McFly made a triumphant return last year with their #2 hit album, Power To Play - an exhilarating mix of hard rock and pop-punk. Their 7th studio album was a full-on celebration of rock music, allowing them to create the record they've always dreamed of. McFly's impressive track record includes seven #1 singles, seven albums (two of which topped the charts), and countless sold-out shows. They've sold over 10 million records globally and have bagged numerous awards, including a coveted BRIT for Best Pop Act.
