Mike Tyson completely overwhelmed by comment from John Fury – 'Stop, stop'

John Fury almost had in tears when he told him how his son, Tyson, was named after him.

While to face next month, his namesake is also preparing for his in December. However, upon discovering that one of the world's greatest fighters in the modern era was named after him, the American icon let down his steely demeanour and almost lost it.

On ' Arabia', in a clip from 2023 that's since resurfaced, and in what was a complete surprise for the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion at the time, the host of the show invited Sr to sit down next to Mike. John then tells the story of how his son came to be named after Iron Mike.

John took his place next to Mike and said: "I have waited 35 years to meet this man." He then went on to tell Mike of his deep admiration for him and how he would get up at 3am to watch his fights in the 1980s.

He then told Mike that his respect for him went deeper than just following his career. Moving Mike to almost tears, Fury Sr told him the story of how Tyson Fury came to be.

"I said, 'hear these words. [Tyson Fury's] not only going to live. He's going to be seven feet tall, 20 stone, and the next heavyweight champion of the , and his name is Tyson'," Fury Sr said.

Tyson then forced an early end to as he looked overwhelmed and pushed the microphone away. He then exclaimed: "Time, time, stop, stop."

However, it appears that Fury Sr's deep-rooted respect and admiration for Mike was tested following the legend's siding with in Tyson Fury's fight with the ex-UFC star in October 2023. Fury Sr then made during the press conference for his son's crossover bout, while reminding him of how he named his son after the heavyweight legend.

"I'm sat in the company of these great people, Mike Tyson on the end who I named my son after, I named my son Tyson. But you know what? Give me a special mention, the man who bred him," Fury Sr said.

"John Fury fears no man, no man on earth no matter what they've done, no matter what the accolades. Here I am, any man alive wants to fight John Fury, I'm ready to go, Mike Tyson what have you got to say to that my brother?"

Tyson simply responded that Fury Sr was . However, Fury Sr believes Tyson's choice to fight Jake Paul is actually to avoid facing him, and was once again in April of this year.

While a fearsome fighter in his own right as a former professional boxer and bare-knuckle fighter, many believe going up against Iron Mike would be a step too far. However, despite Mike's sterling history in the ring, it has not stopped John from putting the scrap to him.
