Strictly Come Dancing contestant Sam Quek has revealed that she suffered a ‘tumble’ during her first dance.

The BBC hit dance competition made a return to our TV screens last weekend and celebrities and professional dancers as they all compete to win the iconic Glitterball.

Former England hockey player Sam, 35, was among the stars who took to the dance floor with her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin, 26, and performed the foxtrot to ‘Where did our Love Go’ by Diana Ross.

Sam did a good job of hiding her mistake as Nikita admitted that he did not notice. The star made the confession on Tuesday’s episode of Strictly spin off show It Takes Two.

Speaking to host Fleur East, she said: "I've never had an experience like it. The nerves in the run up, like I think I was physically shaking during the dance, to then finish it come out unscathed. Although, I took a little bit of a tumble into the stairs."

A shocked Nikita asked: "Did you? I didn't even realise." Sam continued: "I did just before I finished my solo. I smashed my foot and that's why Craig said I lost balance." Nikita reassured her and added: "It's okay, it's alright."

However the moment did not get unnoticed by judge Craig Revel Horwood. On the night he said: "You lost a bit of balance as you're fully aware darling, and you're not completely using your feet. A little lumpy."

Elsewhere on the show, fellow contestant Tasha Ghouri spoke about plans to marry boyfriend Andrew Le Page after his support was caught on camera during her first live show on Saturday night.

The former Love Island star, who was the first deaf participant to take part in the ITV hit dating show, star impressed the judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke as she scored 30 points for her cha cha performance to Sabrina Carpenter’s number one hit Espresso alongside professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

Speaking about Andrew’s support, she said: "He's just so supportive in everything I do and he knows how much this really means to me. That's my future husband right there. He's so amazing and I love him to pieces."
