Vernon Kay's ITV co-star reveals real reason she'd never go on holiday with him

AJ Odudu dished the dirt on why she wouldn't dream of jetting off on holiday with her colleague, Vernon Kay.

Chatting to Alan Carr on his latest 'Life's a Beach' travel podcast (September 16), AJ, who is known for roles on Big Brother's Bit on the Side and Married at First Sight: Afters, got candid about her work chemistry with Vernon Kay.

She's just bagged herself a spot on a new primetime programme, M&S: Dress The Nation, standing side by side with the ex-Family Fortunes icon. In this new gig, AJ steps into the fashion world, searching for Marks and Spencer's new star designer among 10 hopefuls.

But her connection with Vernon isn't new, and she spoke to Alan about whether she could ever envision kicking back on a holiday with the BBC Radio 2 presenter.

Pouring out the details, AJ said: "Ooh, do you know what? I'm gonna say; I absolutely love working with Vernon - worked with him before on Comic Relief, so it was amazing to partner with him on this amazing show."

Without skipping a beat, she added: "We had such a laugh. It was so much fun, but I think he's better holidaying with, you know, the one and only Tess Daly. Yes, do you know what I mean? I think...good lad."

Once a personal trainer, the 36-year-old TV star leaped into the spotlight and shimmied her way onto Strictly Come Dancing with pro dancer Kai Widdrington.

After suffering a torn ligament in her ankle, she was forced out of the competition and unable to vie for the top spot in the final.

Describing the emotional aftermath to the Mail On Sunday's YOU magazine, she shared that she had been "crying on live TV for months every time someone mentioned it".

Fortunately, AJ bounced back by taking on the presenting role for ITV's reboot of Big Brother alongside Will Best. 'Dress the Nation' is lined up to be her third major prime time endeavour.

Speaking about the show with Vernon, AJ revealed: “I literally used to work in M&S on the high street of Blackburn town centre, so I am having a real full circle moment with all of those things combined."

Meanwhile, Vernon indulged in a summer getaway this August, with wife Tess giving followers on Instagram a glimpse into their sunny escapade. Alongside a photo with Vernon, Tess penned the caption: "Sun & Sea".
