Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Sweden international has been the Gunners' top target for the No.9 position throughout the summer after scoring 54 goals in 52 matches for the Portuguese side last season.
The two clubs have been in talks over a deal for the forward for much of the summer, with Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas reluctant to budge on his asking price for Gyokeres, who joined from Coventry City two years ago.
However, Football.London understands that the two sides are now close to agreeing a deal for the 27-year-old after talks reignited earlier this week.

Now, though, Gyokeres could finalise his move to North London in the days ahead and potentially make his debut for the Gunners before the end of July.
Next week, Mikel Arteta's side are set to jet off to the Far East for pre-season fixtures against AC Milan, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Meaning if Gyokeres completes his move to the Gunners in the days ahead, there is a chance he could possibly be included in the travelling squad.

Failing that, the forward could make his debut for the club at the Emirates Stadium on August 6 or August 9 when they face Villarreal and then Athletic Club in North London.
Any minutes Gyokeres plays for the Gunners, if and when he completes his move to North London, are likely to be his first of the summer after missing Sporting CP's pre-season friendly against Celtic earlier this week after failing to report back to pre-season training.
