More than 25 crore employees from banking, insurance, postal, transport, construction and other public sectors are participating in this nationwide strike. The aim of the strike is to register protest against the "anti-labor, anti-farmer and pro-corporate policies" of the government.
Are banks closed today?
Formally no national bank holiday has been declared today, which means technically banks should remain open. However, banking services may be affected in some areas due to this strike by trade unions, especially where unions are active and employees are joining the strike. Bengal Provincial Bank Employees Association affiliated to AIBEA and many employees of the insurance sector are part of this strike.
