Punjab: BSF recover packet of suspected heroin in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur (Punjab) [India], October 17 (ANI): Border Security Forces (BSF) along with Punjab Police recovered one packet of suspected heroin in a joint operation in Gurdaspur district, officials said on Thursday.
BSF Punjab Frontier said in a statement on X, "Acting on the disclosure made by two apprehended narco-smugglers, a joint operation was launched by BSF troops along with @PunjabPolice near Kassowal Bulge area adjacent to Ravi River in Gurdaspur district. The joint operation led to recovery of 1 packet of suspected heroin along with 01 Oppo smartphone and 01 Hero Splendor motorcycle."


"Both the smugglers alongwith Heroin were handed over to Gurdaspur police for further investigation," it added.
BSF added, "This successful recovery highlights the synergy between BSF and Punjab Police in combating the narcotics menace in border areas of Punjab."
Earlier on Thursday, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), allegedly delivered via a drone, has been recovered from the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Fazilka district, officials said.


The AIG of Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur, stated on Thursday that the consignment contained RDX, batteries, and timers.
"An IED sent through a drone has been recovered from the India-Pakistan border in Fazilka. The consignment, loaded with RDX, includes batteries and timers in addition to the bomb. The BSF has handed over the device to the State Special Cell," the statement read.

"The matter is under investigation, and a case has been registered," it added.
