This ‘ Animal’ is out for blood!
The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer has hit the bull’s eye at the box-office.
The gory action drama has crossed Rs 212.67 crore within a span of just three days, as per a report by the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com.
In trade analyst Taran Adarsh’s words, the movie has demolished box-office records like a tsunami. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the film critic revealed that the movie created history over the weekend at the box office despite being an A-rated (adult-rated) movie, without any superstar cameos or being a part of a successful franchise.
“Tsunami - Hurricane - Typhoon… ‘Animal’ Has Historic Weekend… #Animal packs a Blockbuster Total in its opening weekend, despite ‘A’ certification… Fri 54.75 cr, Sat 58.37 cr, Sun 63.46 cr. Total: ₹ 176.58 cr. #Hindi version. Nett BOC,” reads his post.
As per Sacnilk, the movie has collected Rs 11.14 crore so far at the box-office.
'Animal' Dominates Global Box-Office
Kapoor's violent saga has turned out to be a box-office monster. Citing a data published by ComScore, a report by Variety revealed that the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial has become the number 1 film globally, amassing a staggering $42.1 million, beating 'Napoleon' and 'Hunger Games' sequel 'The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes'. The movie has turned out to be quite a hit in North America, earning an impressive $6.1 million.
'Animal': A Bloody Family Saga
Beyond the unabashedly violent and gloriously gory surface, the Vanga film is an emotional family drama. It centres around a dysfunctional family in Delhi. In particular it focuses on the love-hate relationship between a pair of father and son - Rannvijay and Balbir Singh. Vijay (played by Ranbir) is the black sheep of the family, desperate for his absentee father's approval. When his father (Anil Kapoor) gets shot, he goes feral and instigates a bloody gang war.
Aside from the Kapoors (Anil and Ranbir), the movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna (of 'Pushpa' fame) and Tripti Dimri ('Bulbbul') along with Bobby Deol as the antagonist.
