Delhi's Mustafabad wakes to horror as building collapse claims 4 lives, rescue ops underway

Send Push
At least four people lost their lives after a building collapsed early Saturday morning in the Mustafabad area of Delhi. Officials said that several others may still be trapped under the debris.

Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF) and Delhi Police quickly arrived at the scene. Efforts are still going on to pull out anyone who may be stuck inside.

An eyewitness at the site said, "Two men and two daughters-in-law stay here. The oldest daughter-in-law has three children, second daughter-in-law has three children... right now we don't know anything. They are nowhere to be seen."

This tragic incident happened just hours after Delhi saw heavy rain and thunderstorms on Friday night. The sudden weather change affected many parts of the city.

Sadly, this is not the only recent case of a building collapse in the city. Just last week, a wall of an under-construction six-floor building fell near the Madhu Vihar police station during a dust storm. In that case, one person died and two others were hurt.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Vineet Kumar had said, "Around 7 pm, we received a PCR call. When we reached the spot, we found that a wall had collapsed during the dust storm. One person had died, and two were injured. They were taken to the hospital."
