Kamika Ekadashi Katha: Kamika Ekadashi fast is on 21st July. Every year, the Kamika Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi date of the Krishna Paksha of the Shravan month. On this Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu, who is in Yognidra, is worshipped with rituals. It is believed that whoever worships Lord Vishnu on this day gets all kinds of auspicious fruits. There is no lack of happiness and prosperity in life. It is believed that the devotees who observe the fast of Kamada Ekadashi with devotion have all their wishes fulfilled, and all their sins are also destroyed. This Ekadashi is also known as Phalada Ekadashi.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month will start from 12:12 pm on 20th July and will continue till 09:38 am on 21st July. In such a situation, according to the Udaya date, Kamika Ekadashi will be celebrated on July 21.

Importance of Kamika Ekadashi

In Hinduism, keeping the Ekadashi fast, performing Puja, and chanting mantras have special importance. Fasting on Kamika Ekadashi in the month of Sawan liberates one from all sins committed unknowingly. Fasting on Kamada Ekadashi and listening to the story gives the virtue of Vajpayee Yagya.

Kamika Ekadashi Vrat Puja Vidhi

- On the day of Kamika Ekadashi, wake up before sunrise in the morning and after taking a bath, etc., wear clean and satvik colored clothes. After this, spread a red cloth on a wooden stand and install a picture or idol of Lord Vishnu.

- While chanting the mantra 'Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay', bathe the idol of Lord Vishnu with Panchamrit and offer clothes, sandalwood, sacred thread, fragrance, Akshat, flowers, sesame seeds, incense sticks, lamps, Naivedya, seasonal fruits, betel leaves, coconut, etc., and perform Aarti with camphor.

- After this, listen to or read the story of Kamada Ekadashi. Perform Jagran of Lord Hari at night and feed the poor on the day of Dwadashi, and help the needy.

- Eat Satvik food and keep yourself away from any kind of disorders. Chanting the mantras of Lord Vishnu and his mantras on this day liberates one from sins. Therefore, the fast of Kamada Ekadashi should be kept with full devotion.

This Kamika Ekadashi is the first Ekadashi after Devshayani Ekadashi and during Chaturmas. Naradji requested Brahmaji to narrate the story of the Ekadashi fast of Krishna Paksha of the Sawan month. In ancient times, there was a Thakur in a village. Thakur quarreled with a Brahmin, and in anger, Thakur killed the Brahmin. Later, he started regretting his act. To seek forgiveness for the crime, Thakur wanted to perform the last rites of the Brahmin. But the Pandits refused to participate in the last rites, and he became guilty of Brahmahatya. Then Thakur requested a sage that O God, how can my sin be removed. On this the sage advised him to observe Kamika Ekadashi fast. Thakur observed Ekadashi fast as per the rules. At night, when he was sleeping near the idol of God, he saw God in his dream. God said that I have freed you from all the sins. In this way Thakur became free from the sin of Brahmahatya and finally went to Vaikuntha Lok.
