When will Navratri start?
Sharadiya Navratri starts every year from the Pratipada date of the Shukla Paksha of the Ashwin month and continues till the Navami date. This time, this holy festival is starting from 22 September 2025. On this day, Ghatasthapana, i.e., Kalash Sthapana, will be done, which is considered to be the formal beginning of Navratri.
Maha Ashtami festival will be celebrated on 30 September, while Mahanavami will be on 1 October. The next day, on 2 October, the festival of Vijayadashami (Dussehra) will be celebrated with great pomp. On this day, the idols of Maa Durga will also be immersed, which symbolizes the completion of Navratri.

The most important ritual of the beginning of Navratri is Ghatasthapana, which marks the beginning of the nine-day worship method. This year the day of Ghatasthapana is 22 September 2025. According to the Panchang, the time from 6:09 am to 8:06 am on this day is considered the best for Ghatasthapana. Apart from this, those who cannot do the installation at this time can also install the Kalash in Abhijit Muhurta, which will be from 11:49 am to 12:38 pm. By doing Ghatasthapana in these auspicious times, one gets the blessings of Goddess Durga, and the worship of Navratri is considered to be completely fruitful.
