Mumbai News: ISIS Case Accused Shamil Nachan Granted Court Nod To Attend Father Saquib Nachan's Funeral In Padgha

A special NIA court has allowed Shamil Nachan, an accused in the ISIS module case lodged in the Taloja jail, to attend the funeral of his father Saquib Nachan, an alleged ISIS operative who died in Delhi on Saturday.

The mortal remains of Saquib was reportedly transported from Delhi to Mumbai and was expected to arrive in Bhiwandi's Padgha by today morning, where the last rites will be held.

His lawyer Shamsher Ansari confirmed that the court gave permission to Shamil for the funeral. A senior officer from a central security agency added that the last rites will be performed under strict surveillance.

A senior Thane police official said security in Padgha had been heightened since Nachan’s hospitalisation and was further intensified following his death. “More than 200 personnel, including units of the Thane rural police, have been deployed in and around Padgha and surrounding areas. Security vans are stationed at key locations, vehicles are being checked and unfamiliar individuals are being questioned,” the official said.

Saquib, 63, a former office-bearer of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India, died in Delhi on Saturday following a brain stroke. He was one of the key accused in the high-profile Delhi-Padgha ISIS terror module case.
