Thiruvananthapuram: In a big relief for Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the Kerala High Court Wednesday put on hold for two months all proceedings against his daughter Veena Vijayan and the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) in the monthly pay-off case launched by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
The directive in effect pauses the issuance of summons to the directors of CMRL and Veena Vijayan.Hearing a case filed by CMRL, vacation judge TR Ravi accepted the stand taken by the firm that it was not issued notices as per provisions under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
The SFIO had filed a chargesheet against the firm and others. The judge said the petition raised fundamental questions of law that merits serious consideration and posted the matter to be listed once the court reopens after vacation.
