Vedant Mahajan, 26, has set a fine example of how passion and vision can transform an industry. With his ability to bridge cultural divides and cater to the tastes of a global audience, the dynamic entrepreneur has emerged as a trailblazer in the dynamic world of event management. Being the driving force behind MVM Entertainment, he has revolutionised the nightlife and social event landscape, crafting extraordinary experiences that resonate with the Indian diaspora and beyond.
Entrepreneurial journey
Vedant’s journey began in 2016 in Mumbai where his passion for curating unforgettable events took root. “I don’t have any formal education in this business. My family is into textiles and was earlier into politics. My great grandfather Meherchand Mahajan was the Chief Justice of India,” he informs.
During college, he was a part of the organising committee for college festivals, and very fascinated by the concept of putting together an event. Back in the days when he was very young to go to clubs or bars for parties, he started hosting house parties with his friends and arranged everything from food, décor, music to entertainment. This led him to recognise an opportunity and the trend continued for some years. “Slowly, we came to be known as the party guys, and were approached by clubs, restaurants and promoters for hosting events. That was the beginning of MVM Entertainment in Mumbai. We started with no connections or funds, and yet made a decent following,” he states.
Over time, MVM hosted numerous events at premier venues like Taj Land’s End, Four Seasons, St. Regis, etc. and invited international artists like 88 Glam, Ramz and Murdabeats to Mumbai. MVM gradually evolved as a successful event company. The big change happened when Vedant shifted to London to pursue his master’s degree in UCL. “London is big and intimidating, and clubbing is expensive for someone who has no connections. It is difficult to book a table, or to know how to get into a club. Even if you manage to get past that, you don’t enjoy the experience as the music isn’t to your liking, or the people are not very receptive,” he mentions. Recognising a gap in London’s event scene for the Indian diaspora, he stepped in to host events for the South-Asians and eventually launched MVM Entertainment in London.
MVM caught the pulse of the global audience and resonated with the Indian diaspora. “We needed to give the international students a place where luxury meets comfort. There were other Indian nights or desi nights, but we had the right crowd coming, and the right music playing. I even curated the playlist carefully and have flown DJs to the event to make sure it is not just another desi night. Basically, we worked with the same high-end clubs but with our kind of music and got our friends together. So one got to meet like-minded people and enjoyed the music too.”
MVM London blew up within the first few months. “With celebrity guests like Ranveer Singh, Kanika Kapoor, Divine and others showing up at our events, and we hosting huge events like the London Holi party, etc., everyone was talking about us on social media.”
Curating exclusive experiences
MVM conceptualises and produces unique events tailored to diverse client needs. Each event at MVM is a seamless blend of luxury, culture, and innovation, reflecting the company’s vision of redefining entertainment. It stands apart with its star-studded events that have drawn high-profile personalities including A-list Bollywood actors, rappers, singers, members of the Indian cricket team, and a lot of influential people. Recently, MVM hosted an event featuring Aryan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s luxury whiskey brand, D’YAVOL, further cementing its reputation as the go-to name for exclusive, high-end experiences. “It has been a great experience hosting these events at MVM and I am sure they have enjoyed it too,” he quips.
Besides London, MVM has been launched in Dubai, followed by New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto, and is soon coming up in Chicago. “I am very proud of what we have achieved and how MVM has seen unreal growth,” he says. How does one manage it all? “Everywhere you go, you need to take a deep dive to know the best clubs, figure out the right places to party, the right location, etc. You need to study the audience, what kind of music they like, what kind of tables they buy or what kind of alcohol they like.”
Today, MVM is at the forefront of hosting experiential events in iconic Mayfair venues like Cirque Le Soir, Tape, London Reign, Tramp, and Cuckoo Club. In New York, it has worked with the best venues like the Tao Group, and in Boston, LA, it has been with the top venues and the international brands.
But Vedant Mahajan is not stopping there. The company has plans to expand their offerings and continue setting trends in experiential entertainment, and is poised to lead the way in creating transformative experiences. “We want to take this to every big city in the world. The way to achieve this is constant hard work. I am currently working in five time zones. That is the way we hope to achieve excellence in what we do,” he sums it up.
