Bhubaneswar: The case of misbehavior of policemen with the fiancée of an army officer in the police station in Bhubaneswar is now gaining momentum. On one hand, while Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi has ordered a judicial inquiry into the entire incident, on the other hand, the victim of sexual harassment has made shocking revelations in an interview with India Today. The victim , who is a lawyer by profession as well as a businesswoman , said that when she went to the police station to complain about road rage, instead of helping her, the policemen formed a gang and started harassing her. The army major whom the woman was going to marry was forcibly locked in the lockup by the policemen, while the woman was taken to another room and sexually harassed.

Choked her, pulled her hair, broke her teeth

The victim told how the police beat her up , strangled her and pulled her hair mercilessly. The victim says that in this beating, one of her teeth also broke , which a woman police officer threw out of the police station indifferently. But the most shocking incident happened when a male police officer entered the room of the victim who was tied up and locked in a room the whole night. The victim alleges that he pulled up her bra and pulled down her pants, stripping her naked and then kicked her chest with the shoes on her feet. This continued for about 20 minutes. The surprising thing is that she was treated like this even after the woman had told that she was the daughter of a retired Brigadier from the army and the fiancée of an army serving officer.

Policeman applied his private part on his face

The woman further alleged that during this attack inside the police station , another male officer put his private part on her face and asked her humiliating questions. Shockingly, instead of protecting and helping a woman, the policemen not only humiliated her but also crossed all limits and tortured her badly. The woman claims that her only fault is that as a lawyer, she reminded the policemen of their duty and told them about her rights as a complainant and asked them to take action against the boys who attacked her during the road rage incident, due to which the policemen got angry and took this action against her in retaliation.

However, the victim woman has said that she is not afraid of this incident and by calling this incident false, her character is being maligned so that the policemen can be saved and her allegations can be underestimated. The victim says that she will not be weakened by such rumours and speculations on social media. And she will not rest until the guilty policemen are punished in this case. On the allegation of her being drunk that night on social media, she asked in return that is it prohibited to have two drinks of alcohol in India ? The incident that happened that night has left a deep impact on the victim's mind. She says that for the last ten days she has been asking herself the same question that what is her fault ? She says that being from an army background, she has always learned to raise her voice against injustice. And that night she was doing the same thing.

The government claimed strict action

This incident happened on the night of 14th and 15th September , when the victim woman and her fiancé, who is a Major in the Army, were surrounded by some boys who had gone out for a walk and misbehaved and beat them up. After this, when both of them reached Bharatpur police station to complain about this, first the police officer was found absent from the police station , then when he reached there on their pressure, instead of taking the complaint, the victim was sexually harassed and beaten up. Later , after the intervention of army officers, the matter reached social media and then mainstream media. After this, a judicial inquiry was ordered by the Odisha government while five police officers of Bharatpur police station were suspended. However, after all this, many more videos of the woman and her companion went viral on social media, which were used to prove them guilty. The government is now talking about taking action after investigating all the aspects of the incident through a judicial inquiry. Currently, the victim woman is undergoing treatment and therapy to recover from the heartbreaking incident that happened that night.
