Now the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari, has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and requested him to withdraw the President's Police Medal and Police Medal given to the current Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

Shubhendu Adhikari has said that "You are aware that the Hon'ble President has awarded President's Police Medal and Police Medal to the members of various police forces of the Indian Union in view of meritorious service, valor and outstanding dedication to their duty. If there are any allegations against a person who has been awarded the post, which can defame the police department, then it is a matter of concern. One such person who has received this honor has been accused of serious allegations. Shubhendu Adhikari said that all such derogatory acts should be investigated with utmost sincerity and the awards given to the guilty holders should be withdrawn." He further said, 'I want to bring to your notice with great regret that the Government of West Bengal has failed to take appropriate action as per your above direction in respect of the reprehensible, disgraceful and shameful conduct of Vineet Goyal in the RG Kar murder case. " Goyal was awarded the PPMG in the year 2013 and the PMG in 2023.

Earlier, news had also come that the victim's father has also alleged that the police tried to bribe him and tried to suppress the case. The trainee doctor's father had made a sensational revelation. He had said - "Kolkata Police tried to suppress the case by cremating the body in a hurry. We were not even allowed to see our daughter's body and were made to wait for hours in the police station. The body was handed over to us only after the post-mortem. Meanwhile, a senior police officer tried to bribe us but we refused." However, now the family is denying these allegations.

ED investigation begins against Sandip Ghosh

On the other hand, ED has started action against the former principal of the hospital. ED has raided Sandeep Ghosh's house. ED has registered a case under PMLA in the matter of financial irregularities. Sandeep Ghosh is currently in CBI custody. ED has also raided the house of a relative of Sandeep Ghosh in Hooghly. ED has raided three places simultaneously.

Sandeep Ghosh is accused of committing serious irregularities during his tenure. After 15 days of interrogation, the CBI arrested Sandeep Ghosh. Sandeep Ghosh was not arrested in the rape and murder case but in the corruption case. Along with Sandeep Ghosh, his security guard and the hospital vendor were also arrested. When the lady trainee doctor was raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh was the principal there. He was accused of hiding the incident and covering up the entire matter. The CBI had continuously questioned him since taking over the investigation on August 14. During the investigation, old allegations of financial irregularities have surfaced against Sandeep Ghosh.

Now the letter has come to light through which Ghosh had ordered renovation near the seminar hall. CBI investigation has revealed that the very next day of the rape-murder of the trainee doctor, Sandeep Ghosh had ordered renovation of the rooms around the seminar hall. Sandeep Ghosh had written a letter on August 10 and asked the State Public Works Department (PWD) to renovate the room and toilet attached to the seminar hall. Ghosh's signature is also on this permission letter. Meanwhile, the victim's parents have also said in a letter that every possible effort was made to erase the evidence at the scene of the incident.
