Suspension of three senior IPS officers

According to the order issued by the government, the suspended officers include former intelligence chief P. Sitaram Anjaneyulu (Director General rank), former Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata (Inspector General rank) and then Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gunni (Superintendent of Police rank). All of them are accused of being involved in the harassment of actress Kadambari Jethani. This decision was taken after questions were raised on the role of these officers.

Kadambari Jethani says that she was threatened by police officials during the tenure of the previous government. She said that the officials had told her that if she did not withdraw the case filed against a top Mumbai corporation official, she would have to face serious consequences. Kadambari claimed that she was falsely implicated in the fraud case registered against her and on this basis she was arrested.

Arrest orders were given without FIR

According to the report, the then intelligence chief P. Sitaram Anjaneyulu had ordered two other officers to arrest the actress, although no crime had been registered against her till then. Government records show that the FIR against the actress was filed at 6:30 am on February 2, while Anjaneyulu had ordered the arrest on January 31 itself. This makes it clear that the decision to arrest the actress was taken without any solid basis.
