Voting is just around the corner and Reform UK are aiming to making big gains in the local elections. But despite seeming pretty confident they won’t be a real threat to Labour, this hasn't stopped him taking shots at 's party.

He’s called Reform UK "a bunch of moaners without any answers," suggesting that all they do is complain without offering real solutions. Making it clear he believes Reform isn’t offering anything constructive, he said: "They stand on the sidelines moaning, that’s all they do".

On top of that, the Labour leader took aim at Reform’s stance on , accusing them of fawning over while claiming to be patriotic. "They claim or pretend to be patriotic and then fawn over Putin, who is the aggressor in ," he added.

But Reform is clearly on the march, targeting some key areas, especially in 's northern heartlands. Have they got you worried? They’re hoping to make a big splash in Runcorn and Helsby, where a by-election is happening to replace disgraced ex-MP Mike Amesbury. As for the local elections overall, more than 1,600 councillors across 23 English councils will be chosen, with six mayors up for grabs. Many are predicting a tough night for the Tories, especially since the last time these seats were contested was in 2021, where was riding high with the success of the Covid vaccine rollout.

Starmer, however, insists that Labour is the party with a solid track record of patriotism, pointing to the post-war rebuilding of Britain and the founding of NATO under Labour PM Clement Attlee. "I’m really proud that Labour’s the patriotic party," he said. And when it comes to local issues, Starmer is highlighting Labour’s accomplishments, like reducing waiting lists and investing in public services.
