Does Robert die in Emmerdale? Ryan Hawley character's fate sealed in John twist

There were terrifying scenes for one character on Emmerdale on Tuesday night, with the fate of Robert Sugden up in the air.

Killer John Sugden appeared to target his brother amid their feud over Aaron Dingle. But with John eager to get recently released Robert out of the village for good, how far will he go?

The episode ended with an unconscious Robert laid down in the back of John's van. John smirked as he said: "What am I gonna do with you, eh?"

Putting his music on full blast he calmly fled the village with Robert in the van, driving off as the camera zoomed in on the motionless character. The scenes left fans deeply concerned after spoilers had hinted John could claim his next victim.

But some fans were also torn, as scenes hinted that perhaps John was helping his brother after someone else targeted him, with one viewer asking: "But at what cost?". Robert had been trying to block out his prison trauma, turning to booze and hook-ups.

He'd accidentally hit his sister Victoria Sugden in the face during a nightmare, with her begging him to seek help. John was adamant that Robert had to go though, and soon he was seen trying to orchestrate this.

But in the middle of it all, Robert was in danger at the hands of his date Owen. He had no idea that while he was trying to make ex Aaron jealous, the date had a sinister plan for him.

As he stepped away, Owen drugged Robert's drink and soon he was left unconscious. John had witnessed the entire thing though and let it happen, before he stopped Owen from fleeing with his brother.

Confronting him and threatening him to leave, he scared Owen off before getting Robert into his van. It's then that he seemed to have his own plan in mind before driving off.

In a scene yet to be shown, John will be seen looming over his brother with a syringe in his hand. But what does he plan to do and will he strike again?

Robert's true fate may have been let slip though, amid new spoilers remaining coy about what happens next. Not only have we yet to see the moment with the needle confirming more drama ahead, but there's a spoiler that alludes to Robert's condition after the scenes of him in the van.

A spoiler released last week and for an episode not yet aired revealed Robert wakes up. It states he regains consciousness and has no idea how he's got there, so does this confirm Robert will be alright?

Perhaps something happens after this, leading to Robert being in serious danger. But what the spoiler does reveal is that Robert does wake up after Tuesday's cliffhanger that saw him unconscious and put in the van, so we will definitely see Robert alert at some point - but how long for?
