George Clooney leads stacked all-star cast in first-look at heartwarming Netflix comedy

George Clooney teams up with Adam Sandler and Laura Dern in the first look at Jay Kelly, the new film from director Noah Baumbach.

The hilarious and uplifting trailer was released today (Tuesday, 5th August) and is already generating hype for the upcoming comedy.

Ocean's Eleven star Clooney portrays a famous actor named Jay Kelly who embarks on a journey across Europe with his manager and friend, Ron (played by Sandler).

Throughout their adventure, they “reflect on their life choices, relationships, and legacies”, per the film’s synopsis.

In addition to Clooney and Sandler, the film features a stellar supporting cast which also includes Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough.

Dern will be playing Liz, Jay’s publicist, while Crudup is portraying a fellow actor who failed to achieve the same level of fame.

Keough is portraying Jay’s eldest daughter, while Grace Edwards is playing his youngest daughter and Stacy Keach is playing his father.

The incredible all-star cast doesn’t stop there as the film features several household names from both Hollywood and the UK.

Barbie director Greta Gerwig is playing Ron’s wife, while British national treasure Jim Broadbent will play the director who catapulted Jay to fame.

Also making appearances in undisclosed roles are Emily Mortimer, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Lenny Henry, Isla Fisher and Jamie Demetriou.

Rounding out the supporting cast are Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Louis Partridge, Parker Sawyers, Patsy Ferran, Lars Eidinger, Kyle Soller, Tom Francis and Giovanni Esposito.

The film also has plenty of talent behind the camera, as writer-director Baumbach is known for acclaimed films such as The Squid and the Whale and Marriage Story, as well as co-writing Barbie with his wife and collaborator Gerwig.

Actress Emily Mortimer, who is co-starring in Jay Kelly, also co-wrote the film with Baumbach.

Mortimer is best known for films such as Hugo and Mary Poppins returns, and has written for television for the comedy series Doll & Em and period romance The Pursuit of Love, which she directed.

Jay Kelly will be released in select cinemas on 14th November and 5th December on Netflix.
