Jennifer Lopez, the epitome of beauty goals for many, continues to dazzle fans with her age-defying looks at 56. The multi-talented singer and actress, who is celebrating her birthday today on July 24, has previously revealed a simple dietary secret that she believes helps keep her body from "sagging."
A snippet of this revelation resurfaced on TikTok, suggesting that emulating J-Lo's stunning appearance might not be as daunting as one might assume, provided you're ready to commit to the effort required. In the shared clip, Jennifer disclosed: "I've had all the personal trainers you could have. I've tried every diet in the world and everything, and one of the things that I realise is like obviously men and women's bodies are very different.
"The way we burn energy, our fat is different and all this kind of stuff. Women, I don't even know if you guys know this, but, as we get older, we need protein - probably even more than men - I don't know the men's stats."

She explained that when muscle loss begins, everything starts "falling" and becoming saggy, which is something many strive to prevent. Hence, Jennifer emphasises the importance of a high-protein diet and also advocates for ample water consumption.
In the video, she candidly shared that she abstains from alcohol and cigarettes, and prioritises getting seven to nine hours of sleep each night, although she admits she "loves" to get 11 hours, but typically manages six to eight at the very least.
Jennifer also discussed her approach to nutrition with her children, encouraging them to eat more vegetables in contrast to her own upbringing which included a diet rich in rice, beans and fried foods. Moreover, she emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive mindset at all times.
Since being uploaded, the clip has racked up thousands of views and prompted a flurry of comments from viewers. Many have expressed their belief in food as "medicine."
One admirer exclaimed: "I love this woman so much." Another complimented: "She's so pretty."
A third chimed in with: "She's gorgeous." Another echoed the sentiment, adding: "Health, wealth and happiness."
Can muscle loss make you look older?Muscle loss can contribute to an aged appearance. This natural aspect of ageing can impact both physical function and looks.
It's often suggested that many women could benefit from increasing their protein intake, particularly those who are physically active, aiming for weight loss or navigating hormonal shifts due to perimenopause or ageing.
Despite the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for protein standing at 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight, higher amounts may be necessary for some women to support muscle mass, bone density and overall health.
UCI Health has highlighted the importance of women's unique nutritional needs. It states: "Women have unique nutritional needs that vary across their lifespan - from early adult years, through and after pregnancy, to menopause and beyond.
"Ensuring a balanced, nutrient-dense diet throughout each of these stages is vital to maintain physical and mental health and reduce the risk of illness and injury.
"Protein, a long-overlooked macronutrient for women's health, does not get the attention paid to carbohydrates and fats with respect to weight management or acknowledged for its crucial role in ensuring good health across their lifespan, according to several recent scientific studies.
"Women need sufficient protein to build lean muscle mass, strengthen bones and optimise the body’s metabolic rate. It’s also vital for maintaining mobility and function in all stages of life.
"On average, women have less lean muscle mass than men, but they can benefit by building more muscle to support their health, especially as they age."
For any concerns regarding muscle loss, it's advised to consult a GP. It's important not to make significant dietary changes without professional advice.
