was left fearing for her future when she received an unexpected health diagnosis. The comedian, who told fans she had been earlier this year, even asked: "Am I going to die?"
She has as she was first diagnosed with stage two melanoma in her 20s, after finding an irregular mole on her leg, which was also removed down the line. Katherine had earlier this year, and has since been sharing more health updates. The TV star, 41, discussed her own medical history after being told she has a medical age of 77.
She revealed she had been misdiagnosed with ringworm on her face when in fact she had Discoid Lupus Erythematosus (DLE). It is a chronic photosensitive skin eruption which can be either localised or widespread.
The condition is confined to the skin and can cause permanent scarring if treatment is inadequate. "I was originally diagnosed with ringworm on my face, but it was the discoid rash," she said on the What's My Age Again? podcast with Dr Chris Wincup and Dr Nicola Conlan.
"And leprosy, I thought, leprosy. Well, I wasn't diagnosed with leprosy. It was just, like, suggested to me by a guy on a bench."
Katherine shared her health fears as the hosts gave her a test to find out her glycolic age. It is found through blood tests to find out how a persons biological age and compare it with their chronological one.
She quipped: "Nicola, am I gonna die? Is there anything positive from the data that you collected?" The aging expert told her: "The positive is, as I always say, that it's reversible and knowing something about it means you can do something, something about it.
Katherine replied: "It's not reversible. I have a chronic illness. I'm not going to be doing any yoga with you and your little northern friends. I appreciate you always try to give some actionable advice, but I just, I lean into being 77."
The comedian admitted: "I thought it was going to be older, to be honest with you, with the few weeks and months that I'd had leading up to the test."
In March, Katherine after revealing she has been battling skin cancer after being diagnosed with melanoma.
She shared how she became concerned in 2022 and pushed for answers, stressing that without speaking up,
According to the website, melanoma is a type of skin cancer that can spread to other areas of the body, it says a new mole or a change in an existing mole can be a symptom of the condition.
Katherine explained that she didn’t accept the initial opinion about her mole because it kept changing. During a recent episode of her podcast , she said: "The mole kept changing, I know a lot about melanoma, I had stage two melanoma as a very young woman - aged 21 - on my leg, I’ve spoken about that before."
She later added: "But even when he looked at it, he was like, ‘it’s not melanoma, it’s totally fine, I will do a shave and send it away for testing'."
The comic went on to add that although her doctor assured her it was nothing to worry about, she felt differently. Katherine continued: "It's early melanoma and [the doctor] was shocked because it doesn't look like melanoma but it is."
In an update, Katherine assured her fans she was out of danger. "It’s not a battle. There’s no battle. The battle is done. I had a mole removed," she said at the time. "It came back melanoma, very early melanoma, it’s fine."
