A blanket of dense fog is set to shroud parts of the country this morning, with the Met Office warning of travelchaos as drivers, commuters and even air passengers face delays and disruption.
The forecaster has issued a yellow weather warning as thick fog threatens to bring travel misery between 7:15am and 10am, with five regions in the firing line. Brits have been warned to check the status of their flights as well as road conditions, leave extra journey time ahead of travel - or change their plans entirely if necessary. The Met Office said: "Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible. There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights." A seperate warning for rain is in place until midnight in Scotland today.

Those impacted by the fog today have been warned: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary.
"Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey. Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice."
Brits are bracing for widely cloudy weather in the north and west today, with spells of rain becoming widespread, persistent, and heavy by the afternoon. In the southeast, it will be drier with some sunshine, though will turn cloudy through the afternoon. The west is set for "increasingly windy" conditions, with gales possible, the forecaster has warned.

Until midnight tonight, three regions in Scotland - Central, Tayside & Fife, Highlands & Eilean Siar, and Strathclyde - are set for persistent, heavy rain, which may lead to transport disruption and flooding. As well as travel chaos, some communities may be cut off by flooded roads or landslides, while spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures.
The Met Office has also warned of "possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses," which may be flooded.
