Welcome to the Mirror's Daily Digest, where we'll be pulling together all the best stories of the day from our News, Showbiz, Sport teams and more. This Friday we're featuring everything from the man who killed a "clever, talented, much-loved" schoolboy during a 20-minute sword rampage in east London, through to there being another emergency alert set to blast every UK phone again.

Hainault sword attacker jailed for 'savage' murder

The man who killed a "clever, talented, much-loved" schoolboy during a 20-minute sword rampage in east London has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 38 years and 309 days in jail.

Marcus Monzo, 37, from Canning Town, was found guilty of Daniel's murder as well as three countsof attempted murder, wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon on Wednesday. Monzo brutally killed 14-year-old Daniel with a 24 inch sword. Witnesses claimed Monzo was screaming "in delight" after he fatally wounded the boy in Hainault. he killing was part of a series of attacks on April 30, 2024, and began when Monzo drove a van into a pedestrian, chased him and slashed his neck.

He then fatally attacked Daniel, while he was wearing headphones, unaware that Monzo was racing toward him. Monzo then ran into a nearby home where a couple and their 4-year-old daughter fell asleep and demanded to know if they believed in God before attacking the man, slashing him in the arm before running away.

David Beckham in hospital with painful injury as Victoria shares photo

David Beckham is recovering in hospital as loving wife Victoria Beckham shared a snap of him lying in a hospital bed, with his arm in a sling.

"Get well soon, Daddy," she wrote over the snap of him smiling while wearing a hospital gown. She also gave him a friendship bracelet made with white beads to form 'Get Well Soon'. The couple have yet to reveal what happened to the former England star.

However, it has since been reported that Sir David underwent secret surgery to repair a broken wrist that he sustained 22 years ago – during a friendly football match against South Africa in 2003. A recent x-ray reportedly showed a screw, which was used at the time, embedded in his forearm after it failed to dissolve properly.

Emergency alert to blast every UK phone again

Mobile phones across the UK are set to blare out a 10-second siren later this year as the Government gears up for another test of its emergency alert system, The Sun has reported.

The loud alarm, which took many by surprise when it was first tested in 2023, is part of a crucial public safety trial aimed at preparing Brits for life-threatening situations such as severe weather or national security threats.

It's an action-packed day for Glastonbury Festival goers as the fun really kicks off with Alanis Morisette, Biffy Clyro and the first headliner The 1975 all performing today.

Hollyoaks real-life couple 'suddenly split' after two years together

Finally, Hollyoaks stars,Jemma Donovan and Owen Warnerhave reportedly called it a day after two years together. Jemma, 25, whose dad is Neighbours legend, Jason Donovan, met Owen, 26, while working on the Channel 4 soap and often posted snaps of the pair on Instagram.

However, it's now been reported that the couple, who enjoyed a holiday with Especially For You star, Jason last year, have suddenly broken up, with a source sensationally claiming "they are not friends". It comes as Jemma failed to mention Owen's birthday last month on Instagram and he snubbed her recent gig with Take That star, Gary Barlow.

Claiming the split has "upset" the couple's close ones, a source told The Sun: “It’s over and they’re no longer friends. It was very sudden - everyone was so upset for them.”
