One of pub giant ’ biggest boozers has opened - and is expected serve up to 2,000 pints a day.
However, the chain’s latest outlet - which began trading this week - isn’t on a busy high street, like most of its pubs. Instead, the near £2million pub is on a Haven holiday park in Devon, allowing drinkers to relax with a beer or two while taking a short break.
The Red Rocks on Haven’s Devon Cliffs site at Exmouth can pack in nearly 700 punters - making it one of Wetherspoons’ biggest pubs by capacity. It expects to dish out up to 1,500 pints on busy days, rising to 2,000 pints on a peak Saturday.

The site is the fifth pub on a Haven holiday park, with more expected to follow. The expansion comes in the face a wave of elsewhere and a threat to the wider sector. The has been championing the cause of the industry and calling for action as part of our .
The giant Red Rocks Wetherspoons, which is operated by Haven on a franchise basis, has nearly 7,500 square feet of drinking space inside, plus more than 7,300 square feet outside. It employs a 70-strong team of staff. During July and August, it will be open Sunday to Thursday from 8am to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 8am to 1am. It is also believed to be JD Wetherspoons’ founder ’s local - or at least the closest in his empire.
Among The Red Rocks’ other lesser spotted features is a specially designed carpet. What most people won’t know is that every one of Spoons’ more than 850 pubs have an individually designed carpet, linked to the building, the area or the person it is named after. There are even websites and books dedicated to the niche interest. In the case of the Red Rocks, it has a bespoke flooring based on the colours of the Devon coastline.
Despite its size, Britain’s biggest Wetherspoons is believed to be the Royal Victoria Villa in Ramsgate, Kent, which can pack in 1,400 drinkers and which reopened late last year after a £750,000 makeover.

The opening also marks a big moment for Haven, which has 38 parks dotted around the coastline of England, and Wales. The Devon Cliffs site has around 1,800 caravans, which can accommodate up to six people each.
With the bumper , up to 10,000 guests are expected to stay at the park over the bank holiday weekend. Haven’s first Wetherspoons was at its Primrose Valley park in Yorkshire last year, followed by those at Cleethorpes Beach, Lincolnshire, its Kent Coast site, and Haggerston Castle, Northumberland.
Simon Palethorpe, chief executive of Haven, said, “The Red Rocks is a terrific addition to our flagship Devon park. “We know how much our guests value the chance to enjoy food and drinks from their favourite brands on all our parks, so I’m certain they’re going to absolutely love this familiar offering.”
Wetherspoons’ chief executive John Hutson said, “We are looking forward to the opening of The Red Rocks.
“We are confident that the pub will be a great addition to the holiday park and be popular with people of all ages.”
Dan Young, manager of The Red Rocks, said, “We’re thrilled to kick off the 2025 season by welcoming our owners and holidaymakers to our brand-new pub.”
