Pakistan's star batsman Babar Azam, who is constantly struggling with poor form, is not having a good time. Runs are not coming from his bat, which has also affected the team's performance. His failure continued against Bangladesh as well and he could not even score 50 runs in 2 Tests. In such a situation, when runs finally started coming from Babar's bat, his Pakistani teammate and competitor Shaheen Shah Afridi dashed his hopes of playing a big innings. Playing in the Champions ODI Cup, Babar scored a strong half-century but could not complete the century.

In the Champions One Day Cup tournament which started in Faisalabad, Pakistan, Stallions and Lions clashed on Friday, 13 September. In this match, on one side, Babar Azam and Shan Masood were the stars of the Pakistani team for the Stallions, while in front of them, there were players like Imam ul Haq, Abdullah Shafiq, Amer Jamal in the Lions apart from the fierce fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. Stallions batted first and after a bad start, Babar Azam handled the innings.

Babar has not got the captaincy in this tournament, due to which questions were already being raised. In such a situation, Babar had the opportunity to answer only with his bat, which he had been failing for a long time. Now Babar had a good chance to return to form and to some extent he seemed to be successful in it. Babar started slowly after coming to the crease in the 8th over but then increased the pace and scored a half-century. Babar shared a 114-run partnership with Tayyab Tahir and seemed to be in a good rhythm.

Shaheen Afridi broke the hope.

Babar must have been hoping that after such a start he could score a century but then Shaheen Shah Afridi broke all his dreams by dismissing him in the 35th over. Babar Azam was out after scoring 76 runs in 79 balls with the help of 9 fours. This was Babar Azam's first half-century in 11 innings in international and domestic cricket, which must have given him some relief. On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi, who was in the headlines due to the tussle with Babar Azam over the captaincy in the Pakistani team, must have felt relieved that he stopped him from scoring a century.
