The journey from a student leader to a gangster

Lawrence was born in 1993 in a village in Firozpur district of Punjab. His father was a head constable and wanted Lawrence to become an IPS. Lawrence completed his early education in his village and moved to Chandigarh in 2010 for higher education. In 2011, he enrolled in DAV College, Chandigarh, and became active in student union politics there. Lawrence made his mark as a student leader while studying law at Punjab University where he also held the post of president of the student union.

Entering the world of crime

In 2008, Lawrence's friend Robin Brar contested the Punjab University student union elections. To intimidate Robin, Lawrence fired at a rival from his friend's licensed revolver, resulting in a case of attempted murder being registered against him. Lawrence had to spend two months in jail. While in jail, he met many criminals and this is where he entered the world of crime.

First murder case

After being released from jail, Lawrence became active in student politics. In 2010, he contested for the post of college president but lost. To avenge the defeat, Lawrence and his friends chopped off the hands and legs of the winning candidate. After this, he won the election again and became the president in 2011.

Expansion of the gang

Lawrence also ventured into the liquor business and killed a Ludhiana Municipal Corporation candidate in 2013. After this, he hid at a friend's house in Jaipur. It was here that he decided to avenge the murder of his cousin Amandeep by four men.

Lawrence was arrested in Gurugram in 2014, but that year, he escaped from police custody. After being arrested again in 2016, he further strengthened his gang. Lawrence's younger brother, Anmol Bishnoi, is now running the gang.

Gang operations in prison

Lawrence Bishnoi has been in jail since 2016, but his gang continues to expand. While in jail, he contacted many criminals and formed a gang. His gang has more than 700 shooters, of which 300 are in Punjab.

Major crimes and charges

The impact of a personal tragedy
