Omar Abdullah cabinet meeting in Pahalgam: After the brutal terrorist attack last month, the beautiful valley of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir has become deserted. In the absence of tourists, this valley is now starting to look scary. In such a situation, the state government is going to take a big step to make it bloom again. A special cabinet meeting will be held in Pahalgam on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. This is the first time that the cabinet meeting is being held outside Srinagar or Jammu during the tenure of this government. According to officials, this step has been taken to give a strong message against terrorism and violence.

This meeting in Pahalgam is also important because 26 people were killed in the terrorist attack on April 22 at this tourist spot. After this attack, the number of tourists in Pahalgam has decreased drastically. The purpose of the meeting is to show solidarity with the local people and to give the message that there is no place for violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

Though the agenda of the meeting has not been made public yet, officials say that this meeting is a symbolic step against terrorism and anti-social elements. Omar Abdullah also held cabinet meetings in remote areas like Gurez, Machil, Tangdhar, Rajouri, and Poonch during his first tenure (2009-14).

Plan to promote tourism in the state.

This special meeting is taking place two days after Omar Abdullah's proposal in the Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog on Saturday, in which he urged the central government to hold meetings of public sector undertakings (PSUs) and parliamentary committees in Kashmir to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. He believes that these steps will help in reducing fear of people, increasing security and confidence, and regenerating tourism, which will provide economic relief and restore normalcy.

In a special assembly session held in Jammu on April 28, the Jammu and Kashmir government passed a resolution against the Pahalgam attack. The resolution said that the government is committed to defeating forces that disrupt social harmony and progress. In his 26-minute emotional speech, Omar Abdullah said that he would not use this terrorist attack for cheap political gains like restoring statehood. His government would work for peace, development, and inclusive prosperity.
