Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil's capital, Brasilia, on Tuesday after attending the BRICS summit. Here, PM Modi was welcomed with a musical performance of traditional Samba Reggae. After this, on reaching the hotel, there was a soulful performance of Shiv Tandava Stotra recitation and Indian classical dance. Prime Minister Modi called it a 'memorable welcome' and praised the diaspora for staying connected to their roots.
PM Modi wrote on Instagram, 'Reached Brasilia a short while ago. Memorable welcome from the Indian community, which once again shows how emotional our diaspora is and how much they are connected to their roots.' He also shared some pictures, in which excited and enthusiastic NRIs are seen greeting Prime Minister Modi with folded hands while holding the tricolor.
PM Modi arrived in Brazil on Monday after completing a 'very productive' Rio de Janeiro visit for the 17th BRICS summit. The Indian PM is on a 5-nation visit from July 2 to July 10. So far, he has visited Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Argentina. Currently, he is on a tour of Brazil, and from here he will go to Namibia. The Indian Prime Minister, who arrived in the Brazilian capital on a state visit, was welcomed by Brazilian Defense Minister Jose Musio Monteiro Filho at the airport.
PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Brazilian President Lula da Silva on Tuesday on several issues, including trade, defense, energy, space, technology, agriculture, and health. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote: 'Taking new steps in the strong partnership between India-Brazil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the capital Brasilia on a state visit to Brazil. On arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Brazilian Defense Minister Jose Musio Monteiro Filho at the airport. The welcome was made spectacularly musical by a traditional Brazilian samba reggae performance.'
Prime Minister Modi also wrote: 'At Brasilia Airport, the Batala Mundo band played some great compositions. His effort is a global effort to promote Afro-Brazilian percussion, especially the samba-reggae of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.' A few hours ago, the Prime Minister had described his visit to Rio de Janeiro as 'very productive'.
PM Modi wrote on X, 'Now leaving for Brasilia for a state visit. Will have detailed talks with President Lula on various aspects of India-Brazil relations. The Rio leg of my Brazil visit was very productive. We had extensive discussions at the BRICS summit. I congratulate President Lula and the Brazilian government for the work done to make this platform more effective through their BRICS presidency. My bilateral meetings with world leaders will also promote India's friendship with various countries.'
PM Modi on Monday praised BRICS for giving high priority to key issues like environment and health security. He described these topics as important for the bright future of humanity, and also emphasized that climate justice for India is not just a choice, but it is a moral obligation. Speaking at the BRICS session on Environment, COP-30 and Global Health, PM Modi emphasized that climate change and environmental security have always been India's top priority. The Prime Minister said, 'For us it is not just a matter of energy, it is a matter of maintaining a balance between life and nature. I am happy that under the chairmanship of Brazil, BRICS has given high priority to important issues like environment and health security. These topics are not only interconnected, but are also extremely important for the bright future of humanity.'
