Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval recently spoke with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. During their conversation, they focused on regional security issues and the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance stability in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
This dialogue signifies the growing strategic partnership between India and the United States, rooted in shared democratic values and mutual interests. An official statement highlighted that both leaders “welcomed progress in the bilateral partnership,” particularly in light of forthcoming events like the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) Intersessional and the Indian Ocean Dialogue.
Doval and Sullivan also discussed opportunities for collaboration in vital areas, such as clean energy supply chains and defense cooperation, emphasizing their commitment to strengthening ties amidst global challenges. Over the years, the relationship between India and the US has transformed into a “global strategic partnership” focused on shared democratic principles and interests across diverse sectors.
In September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden met during the Quad Summit in Delaware to discuss enhancing cooperation on global and regional matters, including the Indo-Pacific. PM Modi recognized President Biden’s role in advancing the India-US partnership and noted that recent high-level visits have injected new energy into their relationship.
Currently, the US-India partnership encompasses a wide range of sectors, including trade, defense, education, science and technology, cybersecurity, civil nuclear energy, space, clean energy, environment, agriculture, and health.
The strong connections between people and bipartisan support further enhance this partnership, demonstrating how both nations are effectively navigating a complex global landscape together.
