Bhubaneswar: Ten months after the murder of police mitra and sanitation supervisor Sahadev Nayak in Bhubaneswar, Mancheswar police arrested Sulei Nayak, stated to be the mastermind behind the brutal killing.
Sources said the arrest was after rigorous efforts by the police which had also issued a warrant against Sulei. The accused will be produced in court soon.
Notably, Sahadev was hacked to death near the Rasulgarh flyover in Bhubaneswar on January 8, allegedly by a group of persons, including Sulei Nayak.
The police had earlier arrested six people in connection with the sensational murder case.
The deceased was also the president of the BMC Safai Karmachari Association.
Sahadev was returning home after dropping his daughter at her school in the VSS Nagar area on January 8 when the killing took place. The bike-borne miscreants attacked him with a sword on the railway over-bridge near busy Rasulgarh square. The assailants fled the crime scene leaving Sahadev in a pool of blood.
Upon being informed, police immediately reached the spot and rushed the victim to Capital Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
