is likely to turn down a hefty offer from Unrivaled to participate in the offseason basketball league, if her previous remarks are anything to go by.

Recently, it was revealed that Unrivaled, led by Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier and New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart, was of over $1 million (£770,000) to compete in the off-season league. This sum is approximately 13 times greater than her rookie salary of $76,535 (£58,979).

Stewart and Collier were allegedly counting on Clark's participation in the league to generate similar interest as did for (MLS) after his transfer to . Messi's move to MLS came with a contract worth $150 million, partial future ownership, and other financial benefits, including a revenue share from Apple TV's MLS Pass.

Given Clark's significant profile and her role in attracting more spectators to the already thriving WNBA, a similar effect could have been expected for the three-on-three league. However, the 22-year-old is expected to reject the opportunity to play in the league - and the chance to team up with rookie sensation Angel Reese in the competition - to follow another passion: Golf.

As soon as the Fever's WNBA season concluded, she expressed her wish to take a break after a lengthy period which saw her transition almost immediately from her standout final college season into the WNBA. "I'm gonna play some golf," she announced.

Clark has reportedly turned down an offer from Unrivaled to concentrate on her off-season activities, with one highlight being her participation in the LPGA's The Annika in Florida next month.

Upon confirmation of her involvement in the tournament, the Indiana Fever standout expressed her enthusiasm about playing alongside golf icon Annika Sorenstam: "I love golf so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam's on it is so exciting.

She also mentioned her eagerness to meet the LPGA players, join the Women's Leadership Summit, and play in the pro-am event with Sorenstam herself.

The basketball ace has been open about her passion for golf, telling reporters after her season ended how much she enjoys the sport. "I'm gonna play some golf. That's what I'm gonna do until it becomes too cold in Indiana. I'll become a professional golfer," she declared, highlighting the special place golf holds for her.

While she cherishes her time on the green, Clark hasn't ruled out a return to the basketball court, suggesting she might find golf "boring" after a while.

The athlete reflected on the success of their team with a hint of nostalgia, stating: "There were a lot of things that this group accomplished that a lot of people probably didn't think was possible. It'll definitely be a little weird for me over the course of the first couple of weeks, then I'm sure I'll get bored and pick up a basketball again."

Unrivaled are on the lookout for four talented individuals to complete its line-up, which aims for a total of 30 players. Six teams comprised of quintets will compete in the league, with the top four set to clash in an exhilarating play-off battle.

Each team member will benefit from a substantial financial boost with a six-figure salary, which is poised to compensate for their earnings and deter the nation's premier talent from being lured away by overseas opportunities. Audiences can eagerly anticipate the official start of Unrivaled, which is scheduled to raise the curtains in January.
