Chelsea may look to Anthony Elanga's impending £52million plus bonuses move to Newcastle as inspiration if they end up parting ways with Noni Madueke.
Arsenal are said to be preparing an opening bid for the 23-year-old after reportedly agreeing terms with the player. The two teams have done plenty of business in recent years, with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Kai Havertz and Jorginho joining the Gunners from the Blues, and Raheem Sterling moving across London on loan last season. Chelsea will be hoping to get a hefty transfer fee in return for Madueke.
Arsenal will reportedly have to pay more than £50m to get their hands on Madueke, who featured 32 times in the Premier League last season. And Chelsea may now be able to justify their asking price as Elanga will cost Newcastle a similar amount.
The duo, who play on the wing, both possess bags of pace and can beat defenders and create chances for their team-mates.
The Forest player has 113 league appearances under his belt, while the Chelsea star has played 67 times in the top flight. And they both have international experience, with Elanga winning 22 caps for Sweden and Madueke racking up seven appearances for England.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is in desperate need of attacking talent, with his side faltering in front of goal at times last season as they missed out on winning the league title after finishing 10 points adrift of champions Liverpool.
And in May, the Spaniard explained: "We have to be very smart with the decisions that we take. Obviously, we need players because the squad is really short, and on top of that we are losing four or five players that are going to end contracts, and their loans are finished.
"So, we need to be sharp. Again, very disciplined in what we want to do, and make sure that we are strong in the next season."
Ahead of Chelsea's Club World Cup semi-final showdown with Fluminense on Tuesday, Madueke had appeared in four matches at the tournament.
He started the clashes with Los Angeles and Esperance Tunis and came off the bench during the showdowns with Flamengo and Palmeiras.
And commenting on Madueke ahead of his side's semi-final, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said: "Personally I think the same noise before the Palmeiras game, and we gave him half an hour and he was very good. I don't have any doubts that if we need Noni, he will help us. I can understand when there is noise around you, it is difficult to deal with that."
