Ben Miller has just released a brand-new children's book which is set to become a best seller and follow in the footsteps of his former previous novels. The former Death in Paradise actor, 58, was quick to credit his wife Jessica Parker for her constant support throughout the writing process.

In an exclusive interview with the Express.co.uk he gushed over her and said she was "amazing". But claimed she has been very patient after he had to do extensive research for Robin Hood 10 and three quarters.

When asked who was his biggest support he told us it was "Definitely my wife Jess, she is just amazing." Before joking: "God knows how she has to listen to me talking a lot about stuff."

He added: "My poor wife I then had to drag her along to see a Norman castle," he said before bursting into a fit of laughter. And continued: "She said 'God do we really have to do this?'."

Speaking of the family day out Ben continued: "They actually all loved going to see it. It was an amazing thing to do for the research."

However, he was brutally honest and added: "Although she did enjoy it, she probably would not have chosen to do it. But she has been brilliant and really really really supportive."

Ben reflected on his biggest inspiration and was quick to admit it was his children. He shared that he is inspired by "What they are into and talk about" as well as the "challenges that they face and the joys that they experience."

Ben wrote his first novel as a hobby for his eldest son over two decades ago but revealed he never planned to publish it let alone a series of stories.

He said: "I didn't really have the idea of it being published or anything, it was just used to read to him at Christmas and then that developed over a period of years and became my very first children's book. I had written one for my elder son so had to write one for my other two kids where they were the main character."

The actor who has starred in the likes of Johnny English recently confessed that he would return to Death in Paradise.

Ten years ago he quit the show after playing DI Richard Poole in the hit BBC show and recently gave some strong advice to Don Gilet who is set to become the leading star.

However, after starring in a guest appearance earlier this year he exclusively told us that he would "absolutely" return.

He looked back with fond memories of the cast and crew and said: "Absolutely I would. I did go back as a ghost in series 10. With Camille. They did like a 100th episode."
