Lara Trump says President set to u-turn in face of 'serious political crisis'

Donald Trump's daughter-in-law Lara has revealed the White House could be poised to reveal unseen evidence from the Epstein files after MAGA supporters were outraged by a decision not to release them to the public. Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein died in a New York prison cell on 10 August, 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges.

The billionaire was accused of running a "vast network" of underage girls for sex, and it has been claimed he held a client list of names from the highest echelons of power, both in the US and elsewhere. President Trump has long been a target of conspiracy theorists who claim he and many other powerful men were on a contacts list kept by Epstein. Trump has always denied the accusations.

In February this year, the US Attorney General Pam Bondi said the files were on her desk teasing to Trump supporters the information would be released to squash any cover-up rumours. However, the Department of Justice (DoJ) and FBI said this month that there was "no incriminating client list" and rolled back on releasing more files, sparking outrage from some of the MAGA support base.

But speaking on the Benny Show tonight, Lara Trump has said Trump's supporters could be thrown a bone as the administration seeks to reverse the DoJ decision. She told host Benny Johnson her father-in-law was "going to want to set things right", adding: "I believe there will be more coming and anything they are able to release they will try to get out. They hear it and understand it."

The Fox News presenter continued: "There needs to be more transparency. I think that will happen. I know this is important to the President. He is frustrated.

"To anyone worked up out there, there is no plot to keep this information away. I'm sure we will know down the line..."

Trump has always denied he was any Epstein list, but during his explosive split with former bromance DOGE buddy Elon Musk last month, the latter posted on his X account: "Time to drop the really big bomb. @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files, that is the real reason they have not been made public.

Musk signed off the now-deleted post with the words: "Have a nice day, DJT!"

Taking to his Truth Social platform this week, Trump defended the DoJ and Ms Bondi telling his supporters to let her "do her job" and that MAGA faithful should "not waste time and energy" on Epstein.

"We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and 'selfish people' are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein," Trump wrote in a post.

Critics of Ms Bondi and the DoJ have included Laura Loomer, a close ally of Trump, and his biggest election campaign donor. "I don't think that just putting out a Truth Social post is going to make this issue go away. It's kind of had a Streisand effect, actually, where people are focusing on this topic a lot more than they were before he posted a Truth Social," Loomer told POLITICO.

Steve Bannon, a former chief strategist to Trump, told the Telegraph that a special prosecutor could be appointed independently to investigate the Epstein files and anyone potentially connected to his crimes.

He told the paper: "The attorney general, I believe, needs to go to the court and ask for a complete unsealing of all the files."
