The M42 in the West Midlands was forced to close in both directions on Thursday morning between J4 (Shirley) and J5 (Solihull) due to a Police led Incident, National Highways said. The organisation, which on its website mentioned a road traffic collision, warned that severe delays had built up in both directions following the closure. A police spokesman, meanwhile, said that they were called to the M42 following "concerns for the welfare of a man".
At around 10am on July 10, National Highways reported approximately four miles of congestion both ways, northbound back to the M40 and southbound back to the A45 Birmingham Airport.
