quit life as a senior royal alongside her husband in 2020, in her home country of America. While The Duchess of Sussex, 43, seemed content with the move to Montecito, this did not stop her from criticising the royal life she left behind.
Although many people think her criticism of the Royal Family was confined to the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, it appears that Meghan actually dropped remarks targeted at royal life much sooner than this. This includes something she said at an event in 2020, just five months after Megxit. In a loaded comment at a political event, Meghan made a comment about being able to use her voice, insinuating that she wasn't allowed to do so before.
When speaking openly about the importance of voting and fighting for positive change at the US event, the duchess said in 2020: "It's something that I look forward to being a part of.
"And being a part of using my voice in a way that I haven't been able to of late.
"So, yeah, it's good to be home."
While Prince Harry's wife didn't explicitly refer to her time as a senior member of the Royal Family, it is believed this is what was implied.
Meghan made a similar comment just this year when launching her new business ventures.
about her Netflix show "With Love, Meghan" and her brand As Ever, the duchess was asked about how it felt giving up her previous blog The Tig before she married Harry.
This was something she reportedly had to do, with Meghan also giving up her Instagram account.
She said: "Well, I loved The Tig, but I certainly love my husband more. So that was a choice I made at the time, and I wouldn't change that for a second."
