Prince Andrew appears to have been snubbed by his brother, the King. Newly-published pictures showing the royal residence in Northern Ireland, Hillsborough Castle, have revealed King Charles keeps in the property various photographs of his family members, including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Most of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's photos were reportedly situated in the residence's State Drawing Room. But there were reportedly no pictures of Prince Andrew to be found anywhere in the castle, in what has been seen as a major blow to the Duke of York. Andrew stepped down in 2019 as a working member of the Royal Family in light of his disastrous interview on Newsnight focused on his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke has denied any wrongdoing and any allegations against him.
A source told the Mirror, which published the photographs: "Royal Historic Palaces make decisions on what they believe to be appropriate.
"They are also guided by members of The Royal Family. But the decision over what pictures of the family to use ultimately lies with the King."
The move to have pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the King's residence was seen as a major olive branch to Montecito.
According to the outlet, pictures of the Sussexes included their engagement photo, one from the King's 70th birthday portrait and another separate one of Harry next to one of Prince William.
The Duke of York no longer attends public engagements with the rest of the royals.
He only attends private family events, church services on Christmas and Easter, and family funerals.
He was recently spotted attending the Duchess of Kent's funeral in London and was photographed standing next to the King and the Prince of Wales.
His former wife, Sarah Ferguson, was also with him.
