World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler revealed he broke down in tears after his win in April. American Scheffler has the sport of golf in the palm of his hand. The 28-year-old has enjoyed an incredible 2024, claiming the Tour Championship, Players Championship, and Arnold Palmer before capping his season off with Olympic Gold.

His crowning glory, however, was perhaps his second victorious performance at Augusta National, where his 11-under-par score saw him take home the coveted green jacket yet again.

Scheffler has now come clean about what occurred after his Masters success, revealing that, as was the case in Paris, his emotions got the better of him.

"I typically get emotional after my wins," Scheffler claimed, speaking on GOLF's Subpar. "I cried after the Masters this year - but I did it on my way to walk back to the champion's locker, and there's nobody that could see it!

"I told them I needed to go to the bathroom. I didn't need to go to the bathroom; I just needed two minutes to collect my thoughts. I went up there, and I just cried a little bit - that's just how I am. It just happened at the Olympics while everybody was watching."

Scheffler also looked an overwhelmed figure when standing atop the winner's podium in Paris, medal draped around his neck - but the American admitted he was unsure how the tournament would be received.

"I didn't quite understand what the environment would be like at the tournament," Scheffler added. "It's a normal Thursday through Sunday stroke play event, and we play three practice rounds and don't see a single fan at the golf course.

"So, we show up for the tournament, wondering what this is going to be like. Is anybody going to show up? I was so taken back, though, because there were so many people there, so many flags.

"I felt like I got so emotional because the national anthem was playing. You're sitting on the podium thinking: 'How cool is this? This is amazing.'"
