Holidaymakers often don't have to travel very far to find a stunning beach as the world is full of them. From white sandy stretches to golden bays, there are so many lovely spots that remain undiscovered, many of which are right on people's doorsteps.
However, when it comes to the world's best beaches, these coastal spots prove to be on another level. The fine sand matched with crystal clear seas creates a dreamy atmosphere, and fortunately for UK holidaymakers, the world's best beach, which boasts raw beauty and breathtaking scenes is only a few hours away.
The World's 50 Best Beaches generates an annual list of the top beaches worldwide, which is compiled by votes from thousands of travel experts.
Cala Goloritze, a protected Natural Monument beach on the eastern coast of Sardinia was crowned as this year's best beach. The renowned coastal spot is famed for its limestone cliffs, natural arch, and the Aguglia, a towering 143-metre pinnacle.
The World's 50 Best Beaches said: "Cala Goloritze feels like more than just a beach - its raw beauty has a way of touching you emotionally the moment you lay eyes on it. Whether you're looking down from the viewpoint above or standing at the shore with your feet in the water, the scene is truly breathtaking."
The beach is only accessible by boat from nearby towns like Santa Maria Navarrese or by a hike from the Golgo Plateau. It also has a daily visitor limit to preserve the beach.
Those who have been lucky enough to visit have shared just how incredible it truly is.
One person wrote on TripAdvisor: "Cala Goloritzé is simply unforgettable. The turquoise water is crystal-clear, the limestone cliffs are dramatic, and the serene atmosphere makes it feel like a secret paradise. An incredible spot to relax, take in the views, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Definitely worth the visit!"
Cala Goloritze's beauty extends across the whole island of Sardinia. The island, the second-largest in the Mediterranean Sea, welcomes millions of tourists annually.
UK holidaymakers can take a two-and-a half hour flight to Saradinia's Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport, and then travel to the Baunei region where the town is located.
