Telangana cabinet approves 201 km RRR from Choutuppal to Sangareddy

Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that Telangana government has given its approval for 201 km Regional Ring Road (RRR) from Choutuppal to Sangareddy.

The state cabinet held it’s meeting at the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State secretariat on Monday, June 23, where the proposals for the alignment of the southern part of RRR was approved.

During the meeting, a resolution was passed to oppose Andhra Pradesh government’s Polavaram-Banakacherla Link Project (PBLP), and also to form a state-level high level committee on the distributiuon of properties between AP and Telangana as per the AP Reorganisation Act of 2014, and to hold discussions with AP.

The cabinet has also decided to submit the report submitted by the expert retired engineers on Kaleshwaram project during it’s design, the state government’s inputs on whether the project had the cabinet sub-committee’s approval, and whether they had provisions in the budget to fulfill them by June 30; to justice PC Ghose commission of inquiry into the irregularities in Kaleshwaram project.

It has also been decided in the cabinet that the new form of ‘Telangana Thalli’ statue will be installed in all the district collectorates across the state.

Telangana draft sports policy approved

During the cabinet meeting, the draft ‘Telangana Sports Policy’ also received its approval.

Sports and youth affairs minister Vakiti Srihari said that the decision to form the ‘Telangana Sports Hub Board of Governance’ was taken during the cabinet meeting.

It was decided to setup Telangana Sports Development Fund (TSDF), and to utilise 10 percent of the funds from every collector’s Crucial Balance Fund (CBF) on sports development.

He also said that the decision to increase reservation in sports was being increased, and improving the sports infrastructure across the state was discussed in the cabinet meeting.

The cabinet decided to extend sports quota reservations to state-level winners of the chief minister’s cup.

BC welfare minister Ponnam Bhabhakar said that a decision to setup an IIIT in the Palamuru region (undivided Mahabubnagar district) was also taken during the meeting, to create 1,080 seats in that institution in the next 6 years.

He also said that an engineering college with 240 seats in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Sciences (CS), Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be established under the Satahavana University in Husnabad constituency which he represents.

He disclosed that 60 seats for a bachelors and 60 for a masters programme in law have been sanctioned for the Satavahana University’s law college.

He also said that the state government was contemplating improving the medical infrastructure to prevent cancer, by appointing padma shri Dr Dattatreyudu as the advisor to the government on cancer prevention treatment.

The vision 2047 document

The cabinet has also decided to implement the Telangana Rising vision 2047 document from December 9, 2025, and to fix targets as per the vision and move ahead.

An advisory committee will be formed to prepare the document by involving experts from across the globe, in collaboration with Niti Aayog and Indian School of Business.

For this, Ponnam Prabhakar said all departments will work in coordination to realise the goal of making Telangana 1 trillion USD economy by 2035, and 3 trillion USD economy by 2047.

The cabinet has also approved to upgrade Indresham and Jinnaram as the two new municipalities in Sangareddy district, for which reorganisation of certain villages in Isnapur to merge them with these municipalities will be done.

The cabinet gave its nod for filling 316 vacancies in the newly established municipalities in the state.

It was also decided to hold a cabinet meeting twice a month from now onwards. A quarterly cabinet review meeting will be held to review the status of the decisions taken in the cabinet, by submitting an action taken report. The principal secretaries of all the government departments, along with the cabinet ministers will attend these meetings.
